One complete picture. A whole new arrangement.

Grid splitting divides your image into non-overlapping tiles. Make a nine-image composition, a set of detail views or a puzzle without cropping each piece by hand.

A nine-tile photo

Start with a square and choose 3×3. Check that important faces or words do not fall directly on a tile boundary.

Views of a larger image

Create separate assets from different regions. Set columns to 1 for vertical strips, or rows to 1 for horizontal strips. Each direction supports up to 6 pieces.

A picture puzzle

Start with 2×2 and increase the grid for more pieces. Numbered files make it easier to reconstruct the original.

How to split your image into a grid

  1. 1

    Prepare the full picture

Choose an image and check its composition. If every tile must be square, crop the overall aspect ratio first.

  2. 2

    Choose rows and columns

Each direction supports 1–6 divisions. Use 3×3 for nine tiles, one column for vertical sections or one row for horizontal sections. Check grid boundaries to avoid splitting important faces and text.

  3. 3

    Download the tiles

Generate individual PNGs or a ZIP. Files include row and column positions; numbers run left to right, top to bottom. This describes the source image, so check your platform's preview before choosing a posting order.

Frequently asked questions

Choose a question to read the answer.

Are pixels lost when dimensions do not divide evenly?

No. Integer boundaries allocate every pixel. Some edge tiles may differ by one pixel in width or height, while the whole image is preserved.

Does a nine-tile grid need a square source image?

Only if you want nine square tiles. A 3×3 grid does not turn a rectangle into a square. For other grids, the image's aspect ratio must match columns to rows for square tiles. Check boundaries around faces and text.

To adjust the ratio, use the image cropper, download the new composition and return here to split it.

Are borders or watermarks added?

No borders or watermarks are added. Each tile is a PNG of its region, with transparency retained.

Do tile numbers set the posting order, and what if files are too large?

Numbers show source positions from left to right, top to bottom. Download individual PNGs or a ZIP. Platforms arrange uploads differently, so check their preview before choosing the posting order.

If a tile exceeds the size limit, save it and use image compression to compare quality and size. Choose WebP to retain transparency.
